Pestilence

​Did any of us ever think we would live in a time where the world would shut down like it is? Here in the United States we are seeing the shutdown of events like: Major League Baseball, National Basketball Association, Professional Golfers’ Association, no large gatherings, and in some states, they issued a limit of no more than 250 people in church gatherings… This is unprecedented and it’s happening all over the world because of something called “The Coronavirus”.

Pestilence is a fatal epidemic disease, like the Bubonic Plague. The Black Death, also known as “the Pestilence”, the Great Bubonic Plague, the Great Plague or the Plague, or less commonly the Great Mortality or Black Plague, was one of the most devastating pandemics in human history. It resulted in the deaths of an estimated 75 to 200 million people in Eurasia, peaking in Europe during 1347. Meanwhile, the Coronavirus stats are the following: Confirmed Cases: 179,836 / Deaths: 7,098 / Recovered: 78,324.

As you can see from the numbers above, we are not in a Pestilence Epidemic, but the world is in “FEAR”! The question is: Where is this so called “Pestilence”? Look at the News Media – They are the real Pestilence. Now you can see just how strong the media is. Yes, we should be informed with correct information, so we know what to do. But the News media is not reporting the news, instead they are making a prediction leading our society into a state of fear. Their predictions don’t backup the numbers or even come close. One lost life over the Coronavirus is devastating. A family who has lost a loved one is devastating. We must not forget that. The loss of life for family and friends is devastating no matter how that life is lost.

We must prepare the people with Good News and NOT bad news that bring fear. The Bible tells us in 2nd Timothy 1:7 (KJV) 7For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. The word “POWER” in this verse is the Greek word dü’-nä-mēs which means: (1) Inherent power, power residing in a thing by virtue of its nature, or which a person or thing exerts and puts forth. (2) Power for performing miracles. God has given us this Power for us to use and not lay it aside; to speak to that mountain and remove it. Speak over your life and declare that you are healthy and whole; no virus regardless of its name is going to destroy you or your family; you are protected by the Blood of Jesus! Jesus has paid the price at calvary for every disease! We as believers are going to walk in victory and not in fear!

Remember what Jesus said in Luke 9:1-2, 6: “Then He called His twelve disciples together and gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases. And He sent them to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick… So, they departed and went through the towns, preaching the gospel and healing everywhere”. Jesus told us to heal the sick. He did not tell us to pray for the sick. Healing should not be an isolated, one-in-100 or one-in-1,000 type of occurrence. Healing should be everywhere! It is part of the Gospel. It is what will open the masses to the Gospel. It is God’s dinner bell for sinners to come and be saved. Jesus commanded us to heal the sick!

Now is the time for the Church of Jesus to shine. People are running scared but we as believers have the solution and His Name is Jesus – a Name above all names. Matthew 28:19-20 (KJV) says, Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
